Gas Counter Pressure Injection Machines
Optimal for use in foam molding
Kaken Geneqs' gas counter pressure injection equipment includes a one-of-a-kind N2 gas generator mechanism and ultra-high pressure gas booster in one package. It brings the use of ultra-high pressure N2 gas into counter pressure molding. By keeping the pressure inside the high-pressure tank as high as 5–15 MPa, it can boost the gas pressure inside the mold cavity very quickly to the desired level.
Thanks to its ability to boost intra-mold cavity pressure on an as-needed basis, it guarantees excellent foaming in the decompression step. This helps attain good reproducibility of mold details and a smooth product surface. It is the best choice for precision foam molding of large products.
What is counter pressure molding?
Counter pressure molding is a variant of gas assist molding characterized by its ability to control a wide range of wall thicknesses. This technique is the preferable choice for producing thick-walled products without inducing sinks on their surfaces.
Conventionally, molding of thick-walled products (typically with a wall thickness greater than 4 mm) presents difficulties due to the occurrence of deformations such as sinks and warps. Addition of foaming agent to the resin (i.e. foam molding) can inhibit such deformations, but with a significant drawback: the foam bubbles float up to the surface, producing swirl marks and compromising the product's appearance.
The counter pressure method represents a molding technique in which the space inside the mold is pre-pressurized using N2 or CO2 gas, and as soon as the resin is injected, a sudden decompression takes place. This rapid decompression inhibits the tiny foam bubbles from coalescing into larger bubbles, thus suppressing the development of swirl marks. This technique also provides a smooth product surface and good mold reproducibility, enabling surface grain processing. Generation of uniformly distributed tiny foam bubbles also has the effect of trimming weight without sacrificing product strength, leading to further savings of material and energy usage.
We provide the following ancillary services: preparation of application forms for installation of high pressure gas, maintenance after installation, regular voluntary inspection, opening inspection, facility relocation, and technical guidance.
